East Hampton Man Killed After Losing Control Of Vehicle, Police Say

A Long Island man was killed after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and hitting a tree, police said.

The crash took place in Suffolk County around 6:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 23 in East Hampton.

Jefferson D. Eames, age 53, of East Hampton, was driving a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Accabone Road when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree, said Lt. Daniel Toia, of the East Hampton Police. 

Eames was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hampton where he died from his injuries, police said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information contact the police at 631-537-7575.
